Saw an ad this week that made me choke on my third reheated coffee.

A “custom GPT chatbot” for $6,000USD. Built using ChatGPT. Yep, the same one you and I can access for free, or for peanuts if you want the fancy version.

But wait- there’s more.

This wasn’t just anyone selling it. This was a feminine business coach. Marketing it to women. Wrapping it in pink, flowery, “I’m here to help you step into your power” vibes… while charging thousands for something that literally takes 10 minutes to build if someone just shows you how.

I’m not naming names-but let’s call the behaviour what it is: predatory.

It preys on women who are overwhelmed by tech. Women who’ve been told they’re “not techy” for years. Women who are already juggling everything and just want something that works.

And instead of saying, “Hey, this is actually super simple-let me show you,” this coach turned around and said, “You need me to do it for you… for $6K.” And it wasn’t a bespoke custom GPT designed for an individual business – it was a copy/paste gpt for every person who used it.

That’s not empowerment. That’s control. It’s keeping women small while pretending to help.

And I’ve had enough.

Here’s why this matters more than you think:

Right now, more men than women are using AI.

They’re experimenting, building, automating-and saving themselves time and money in the process.

Meanwhile, women are being told it’s too hard. Too confusing. Better left to the “experts.” Or worse…sold the same free tool for thousands with a sprinkle of glitter and a side of “divine feminine energy.”

Newsflash: pink fonts don’t make tech more empowering. Education does.

We need women to be in the AI conversation. Using it. Learning it. Teaching it to their daughters.

Because if we don’t? We’ll keep falling behind. Not because we’re not capable, but because we’re being sold the lie that we’re not “ready.”

Let me be clear:

Selling a basic chatbot for $6,000 is not innovative.

Making women feel like they can’t DIY it is not supportive.

Keeping things vague and mysterious so clients stay dependent? That’s not coaching- that’s manipulation.

So what can you do instead?

You don’t need to become a tech guru. You just need someone to break it down in a way that makes sense for your brain, your biz, and your bandwidth.

If someone’s trying to sell you simplicity at a luxury markup, ask who it really serves. Then go find a better way.
